What is a Cosmetologist?
A cosmetologist,
sometimes referred to as a beautician, a beauty specialist, or an
esthetician or aesthetician,
provides personal services to his/her clientele relating to good
grooming. These services include, but are not limited to: hair
cutting, shampooing, rinses, hair arranging (hair styling), hair coloring,
chemical waving, relaxing, hair removal, manicuring, pedicuring,
facials, make-up, scalp or hair treatments and hair pieces.
There are specific disciplines of cosmetology that some cosmetologists
may specialize in. The different types of special cosmetologists
include hair stylists, shampooers,
manicurists,
estheticians and
electrologists. Many cosmetologists
specialize in at least one of these categories.
