Did you know....According to the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, predicts that we will see a significant growth in the number of "personal appearence workers" over the next few years. The statistics show an estimate of 14% growth from 2006 to 2016. Hair treatments for teens and baby boomers are expected to grow, and there is also the prediction of an increased number of nail and full-service day spas. Additionally the number of estheticians and make-up artists is expected to grow by more than 30%.

What does this all mean? The numbers say what industry professionals have been saying for years. People will always need beauty services and service providers. Our jobs, services and products expand far beyond those listed in labor statistics. There are careers in our industry that have yet to be created. Hot off the Press....

In Florida, Legislators are working on a bill to incorporate a National License for Cosmetology. Already, some states are aboard this concept that will make it easier for the Licensed Cosmetologist to move outside of that state and have their license transfer with them. Currently, a Licensed Cosmetologist may have to complete extra hours and take an additional state board examination when they move to another state that does not have the same number of hours as Florida.
